Historical society to meet

The Soldotna Historical Society will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at River City Books in Soldotna. It is open to the public. For more information, call Barbara Jewell at 262-4157.

Head Start reunion slated

Kenaitze Head Start will host a alumni reunion from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at the family house at 120 N. Willow St. All former Kenaitze Head Start students and the families and staff are welcome to attend. For more information, call Mary at 283-0707.

Take a break to meet

Peninsula Take a Break a Christian women’s group will meet for a wacky tacky luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Solid Rock conference center at Mile 90.5 on the Sterling Highway. Participants are invited to dress up for the tackiest outfit contest. Penny Gottsche will provide the music, a presentation from the Women’s Auxiliary of Central Peninsula General Hospital will be given and Linda Luberger will be the featured speaker. Domestic violence workshop set

The LeeShore Center will hold a community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault Oct. 23 through 27 in its community meeting room. The topics will be how the dynamics of a community’s response to domestic violence and sexual assault impacts victims and community resources available to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Continuing education credit may be applied for through Kenai Peninsula College. For more information and times for workshop, call 283-9479.

Lifeguard class planned

The Nikiski Pool will offer a lifeguard class Oct. 26 through 29 at the Nikiski Pool. Participants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. The fee is $125 per participant and includes the training book. Class size is limited. For more information and class times, call 776-8800.

NRA fundraiser takes aim

The Friends of the NRA will host its annual banquet and auction at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. Proceeds will be given to groups to promote firearm safety on the peninsula. Tickets are available at Gator Guns, The Impact Area and by calling 776-7676.
