In today's times, relationships are very disposable and often based not on a deep and abiding friendship, but rather the passion of the moment and the shallow attractiveness of "things" (a beautiful face/body, fancy cars, boats, etc.).
You are right on to recognize the value of friendship as the base for successful marriages and relationships. The blessings received from being a good friend to someone is far greater than any "toy" you own.
