Peninsula Grace has a new senior pastor
On Sept. 30, following the worship service Peninsula Grace Brethren Church voted to call Keith Randall as its senior pastor. Randall is the third senior pastor in the church's 24-year history.
Dan Thornton served as senior pastor for the past 20 years.
Matrix service set
The Matrix service is titled "Getting Ready for the Party." Phoebe and Squirrelly Nelson will be counseled by Dr. Pill on what costumes are appropriate.
The Faith Factory drama team will present skits, games and music. There also will also be prizes, food bags and gas cards given away.
The Matrix Church is a interactive service designed for parents with children to participate together.
The church will meet at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Peninsula Christian Center behind The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Soldotna.
Children's group planned
The Soldotna United Methodist Church will have an after-school program from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Children may arrive as early as 3:30 p.m. Children in grades kindergarten through fourth may attend. Youth in grades five and up will be used to help.
The curriculum is called "Live Big" and helps children come to know the love of God through Jesus, music, art, theater, dance, laughter, sign language, discussion, imagination, entertainment, sight, sound, graphics, hands-on activities, stickers, games, crafts, snacks, Bible stories, worship and prayer. It helps students grow as children of God by taking what they learn into their everyday lives.

Children's Bible club offered
Sterling Baptist Church will begin a weekly children's Bible club from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays at the church on the Sterling Highway and the corner of Swanson River Road. Some of the planned activities include games, prizes, Bible stories and songs. Youth in grades kindergarten through sixth may attend.

Soldotna Bible study slated
Soldotna Day Aglow's Beth Moore Bible study on Daniel continues at 10 a.m. Wednesdays through Dec. 5 at Peninsula Christian Center at the corner of Cohoe Ave. and Farnsworth Boulevard in Soldotna behind The Salvation Army. The topic will be how to develop integrity in an enticing world and explore prophecy from the time of Daniel through the second coming of Christ. Coffee and fellowship will be held at 9:30 a.m. Baby-sitting will be provided.

Evening Bible studies set
The Kenai Church of God has begun evening Bible studies at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the church at 14143 Kenai Spur Highway.

Thursday Bible study set

Grief support offered
Soldotna United Methodist Church holds a "Life, Love, Loss" support group from noon to 1 p.m. on the first and third Monday of the month at the church at 158 S. Church seeks volunteers, begins Bible study
North Star United Methodist Church is seeking volunteers to help with the breakfast program at Nikiski North Star Elementary School. Church members volunteer Mondays and Lighthouse Community Church members volunteer Fridays. Five volunteers are needed for Tuesdays and Thursdays and three are needed for Wednesdays.
The church will hold a 34-week disciple Bible study from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays. Participants will need to prepare three to four hours a week and meet for one two-hour session a week. Parish nursing workshops offered
Parish Nurses of Alaska and Northwest Parish Nurse Ministries, in collaboration with Providence Health System Alaska, will sponsor a training course for nurses interested in parish ministry.
Parish nursing focuses on whole-person care. The first course will be offered at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Soldotna Nov. 1 through 3.

Church harvest, Halloween carnivals slated
Below is a list of church sponsored community carnivals.
* Grace Lutheran Church and School harvest festival featuring carnival games, a costume parade, a soup cook off and cheesecake competition will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the school. Families are asked to donate a bag of candy for prizes.

The church also will host an Octoberfest bingo for quilts from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 26. Barbecue pork sandwiches, baked beans, coleslaw, assorted pies and desserts and coffee and hot cider will be served.
