ANCHORAGE (AP) -- The Korean air force has completed a flight evaluation of F-15s at Elmendorf Air Force Base.
The U.S. Air Force and the Boeing Co. assisted in the two-week review of the F-15E Strike Eagle. Boeing is proposing the F-15K, a varient of the Strike Eagle, for South Korea's FX fighter aircraft competition.
The 16 test flights done at Elmendorf successfully demonstrated the capabilities and potential of the F-15-Es, according to Boeing. The F-15-K will have many improvements, including the latest fighter radar and cockpit displays, Boeing officials said in a news release.
The U-S Air Force and Air National Guard currently operate more than a 1,000 F-15s, which are assembled in St. Louis. International customers include Japan, Israel and Saudi Arabia, Boeing said.
