Fish and Game advisory meets today
The Kenai-Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. today at the Kenai River Center. The agenda will cover Alaska Department of Fish and Game management objectives for the Kasilof Chinook second run. For more information, call Dwight Kramer at 283-1054.
Genealogical society meeting planned
The Totem Tracers Genealogical Society and the Soldotna Family History Center will present a class on "AniMap" at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Family History Center in Soldotna.

Candidate forum slated
The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a candidate forum at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 at the borough assembly chambers in Soldotna for candidates in Senate District Q, Tom Wagoner and Bob Merchant; House District 33, Hal Smalley and Kurt Olson; and House District 34, Mike Chenault and Glen Martin.
The public is invited to meet the candidates and ask questions. Refreshments will be available.
Childcare workshops offered
Sterling Head Start will host childcare workshops Oct. 23. Topics will be child nutrition, challenging behaviors, sign language for infants and toddlers and sudden infant death and shaken baby syndrome. Licensing or CDA hours can be earned. Participants will meet a Child Care Connections representative at a morning coffee.

Trapper orientation set
The Kenai Wildlife Refuge and the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will host a trapper orientation class from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road. This class is mandatory for anyone wishing to trap on the refuge. Community members who have attended a past class need not retake it.
This is not the same class as the snaring seminar, which is required to extend the trap check requirement dates from every four days to every seven days. A snaring seminar has not been scheduled.

Masquerade ball, auction planned
Planned Parenthood of Alaska Soldotna Center will hold a masquerade ball and auction fund-raiser from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. A trip for two to Hawaii, a barbecue for 50, artwork and area novelties will be some of the featured items for the live and silent auctions.
Appetizers, wines and desserts will be served. The cost is $30 each or $55 for two for advanced tickets or $35 each at the door. All proceeds will benefit programs and services of the Soldotna center. Tickets are available at Planned Parenthood of Alaska Soldotna or River City Books.
