ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Anchorage man has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of a baby last May.

Anchorage police said Talalelei Edwards, 20, caused the death of his one-year-old godson, Derrick Tyler, on May 8.

Police say Edwards was babysitting the child when he took the baby to Alaska Regional Hospital with head wounds that indicated the baby had been shaken violently. The child later died at the hospital.

Talalelei was arrested Thursday without incident at his job at Elmendorf Air Force Base. He is being held at Cook Inlet Pre-Trial Facility on $25,000 bail.
