Tricks and Treats at Mallard's Party Store in Soldotna...

Posted: Tuesday, October 14, 2003

Terri Wenger and Rick Anderson use to have 50 some Mallard ducks when they lived in Seward, but now they have Mallard's Party Store in Soldotna, and their former neighbors are tending to the ducks. "We lived on a river in Seward and it seemed fitting to name the store after our ducks," said Terri.

The store features everything one can imagine for whatever kind of party you might imagine. "We're trying to make it a one stop shop where you can find unusual things, a place where you can come and get all your party decorations and favors, and if we don't have what you're looking for, we can special order it for you. We can even get a straight jacket for you if you want one," says Wenger. The store carries the well known line of Empire Magic tricks that are easy for kids to learn and Terri says she encourages the kids to come back and show her their magic show after they practice. "The kids may be earning their candy this Halloween with real entertaining tricks," says Terri.

Wenger was a bookkeeper in Seward before moving to Soldotna and decided she wanted to do something that was a little less stressful so along with her husband opened the fun store. Mallard's Party Tricks & Things is located next to the Napa Auto Supply on the Sterling Highway across from Hutchings Chevrolet-Cadillac in Soldotna.

"Me and my other half talked about it and it sounded like a good idea, so we went for it," said Terri. The store has been open for nearly a month now and already she says people are coming in for anything and everything from dance clubs to masquerade and bachelor parties.

Rick and Terri promise to put the "Quack" in any party if you come by the store, or call them at 262-9211.
