Nikiski resident Robert William Burns died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in Nikiski, due to injuries sustained in a vehicle accident. He was 43.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 18, at the North Kenai Chapel, Mile 29 of the Kenai Spur Highway in Nikiski. Pastor Brad Cason will officiate.
Mr. Burns was born May 9, 1960, in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He served in the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. He and his family moved to Nikiski in September 1997.
"Robert was a kind, big-hearted man. He was a loving husband and father. He will be greatly missed. Words can't describe the love we have for him," his family said.
Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of 17 years, Diana Burns of Nikiski; daughter, Amber Burns of Nikiski; sons, Robert and Matthew Burns, both of Nikiski, and Thomas Crump of Santa Maria, Calif.; mother, Billie Gene McCulloch of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; father, Jacob Robert Burns of Twin Falls, Idaho; brothers, Frank Wolaver of Nikiski, Thomas Wolaver of Santa Maria, Calif., and Michael Burns of Kimberly, Idaho; sisters, Heather Limon of Arroyo Grande and Cindy Hernandes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to help the family with expenses at Wells Fargo Bank under the name Diana Burns, account No. 3049233533.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
