I would like to echo Jean Brockle of the Performing Arts Society recent letter about missing the Kenai Merit Inn. KDLL has produced a number of summer festivals, and we have always been able to count on Joe Arness and the Kenai Merit Inn to provided rooms for out-of-town musicians.
In addition, we also have used the inn to house our contract engineer on his frequent overnight trips to the Kenai Peninsula. Joe was always friendly and very accommodating to our needs.
With the upcoming Arctic Winter Games and the need to house numerous out-of-town athletes, family members, press and spectators, the loss of so many comfortable, clean, conveniently located and safe rooms will be sorely felt. We have all lost a great community resource operated with professionalism, pride and with spirit of warm hearted community support.
I know Joe will still be in town, doing whatever comes next, and I know he will continue to be his warm, friendly, caring and helpful self. Be sure to thank him the next time you see him.
