In support of National Women's Health Care Month, Dr. Gladys Bailon, of the Soldotna Medical Clinic, is offering free breast exams during the month of October.
Dr. Bailon recently joined the practice of Dr. Gonzalo Araoz-Fraser at the Soldotna Medical Clinic on Kobuk Street in Soldotna. Dr. Bailon hails from Manta Ecuador and moved to New York City at the age of 12. She is a Board certified Family Practitioner who formerly practiced at the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center and at the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium in Juneau.
Prior to coming to Alaska Dr. Bailon served at the Mescalero Indian Health Services Hospital in New Mexico. Dr. Bailon completed her Fellowship in Rural Medicine with an emphasis on high-risk OB care at the University of Washington.
"Women's health care is dependant on regular check ups and examinations. By offering the free exams I hope to increase awareness among local women of the need for early detection," said Dr. Bailon. To make an appointment for a free breast exam, call the Soldotna Medical Clinic at 262-5115.
