Ping pong continues
Ping pong is available to play for free from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays through mid-December at Redoubt Elementary School on West Redoubt Avenue next to Soldotna Middle School.
Adults and children (at least 6 years old) and of any skill level are welcome.
Tables and equipment are provided by the Boys and Girls Club and the school. Players are asked to bring a paddle if they have one. Supplies may be limited. For more information, call Ron Levy at 262-7899 or e-mail him at ron@gigr.com.
Golfers to meet
The Birch Ridge Golf Association will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Mykel's Restaurant in Soldotna. Agenda will include election of two new board members and voting on several bylaw changes. A chance to win a season ticket for the 2008 golf season and other prizes will be drawn (members must be present to win.) There will be a no-host bar and snacks will be provided by the association.

Counseling group seeks members
The Kenai Peninsula Counseling Association is seeking members. Its mission is promoting counseling services. It is open to professionals and students in the counseling and human services, or other related fields.
The group will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Central Peninsula Counseling Services office at 506 Lake St. in Kenai.

United Way fundraiser set
The Sterling Senior Center will hold a steak dinner fundraiser at 6 p.m. Friday at the center at 34453 of the Sterling Highway. The cost is $12.50 per person. Music will be provided by the Forget-Me-Knot Band.

Literacy program fundraiser set
The Kenai River Rotary Club of Soldotna will host "From China With Fun" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center in Soldotna. The family-friendly evening will include dinner, Chinese auction, calligraphy display, door prizes and entertainment. Proceeds will go to literacy programs on the Kenai Peninsula.

Public comment sought on park
There will be a public meeting to review park design alternatives for the Soldotna Creek Park expansion project at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at Soldotna City Hall, council chambers. The project encompasses the grassy area known as DOT Park and its connections to surrounding areas.
Participants will have opportunities to review the drawings, ask questions and provide comments and input on the alternatives. A final conceptual plan will be presented to Soldotna City Council on Nov. 14. For more informaion, call Nancy Casey at 260-8418 or e-mail her at caseys@alaska.net.
Sports gear swap scheduled
The Kenai Central High School ski team booster club will host an all-type sports gear swap from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 27 in the school cafeteria. Gear may be dropped off from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 or from 9 to 10 a.m. Oct. 27. Krispy Kreme doughnuts also will be available for purchase.
