Veterans to hold meeting
Chapter 5 of the Disabled American Veterans will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday at the former NAPA building. All veterans are invited.
Sterling club meeting planned
The Sterling Community Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the log cabin on the corner of the Sterling Highway and Swanson River Road. Volunteers also are needed to help complete the new hockey rink at noon Saturday. For more information, call Bob Oakes at 262-5409.
Society to hold demonstrations
The Society for Creative Anachronism will have demonstrations of the various craft and art forms from the Middle Ages, as well as a fighting and armor exhibition from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Bridges in Soldotna. The society creates personas and sets up events to recreate the period before 1600 A.D. The society has set up kingdoms based on the feudal system.
Snowmachine club party slated
The Caribou Hills Cabin Hoppers Snowmachine Club will hold its kick-off party at 7 p.m. Saturday at the National Guard Armory in Kenai. There will be a potluck dinner, no-host bar and door prizes. Donations will be accepted at the door.
Chapter to hold luncheon
The Alliance Kenai Chapter will hold its luncheon and discuss Aurora Gas' plans for the Cook Inlet Basin. The guest speaker is Aurora Gas, LLC, Executive Vice President Ed Jones. Art gallery exhibit scheduled
The Kenai Peninsula College Art Gallery will present a painting and drawing exhibition, "The Sea and Other Roads," by Thor Evenson through Nov. 24. The public is invited to an opening reception from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
Moto-Cross banquet planned
Kenai Peninsula Racing Lions Moto-Cross Division will have its awards banquet at 6 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Riverside House in the upstairs dining room in Soldotna. Dinner is $15 for adults and children 12 and under are $12. There also will be a no-host bar available. Everyone is welcome. Kenai recreation to start winter programs
Kenai Parks and Recreation will begin its winter programs, including open volleyball, Tot Time, Racquetball Challenge and Home School Gym Time. Men's City League basketball is forming and will begin Nov. 4. Those interested in playing should contact the recreation center. Scorekeepers and referees are needed and games will be played Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Women's City League basketball will begin in early January. Public ice skating also is offered from 1 to 2:30 p.m. daily at the multipurpose facility. The cost is $1 and is free on Sundays.
