Micmacs top Thunder

The Peninsula Micmacs improved their record to 4-0 on the season with a 12-4 victory over the Mat-Su Thunder Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center.

Ian Tracy had two goals and two assists for the Micmacs, while Branden Carlson had three goals. Others with multiple points for the Micmacs were Brett Hass with two assists, Jess Richardson with two assists, Johnny Bee with two assists, Eric Downs with a goal and two assists, Wayne Maxwell with two assists, Indy Walton with a goal and an assist and Jake Gotfety with two goals.

KPHA Squirt B drops three

The Kenai Peninsula Hockey Association Squirt B team lost three games this weekend in Kenai to the Alaska All-Stars.

In the first game, KPHA lost to the All-Stars 5-1. William Granger made 21 saves for KPHA, while Morgan Cunningham scored an unassisted goal.

In the second game, KPHA lost to the All-Stars 7-2. William Granger had 15 saves. The goals came from Zack Sonnichsen, on an assist from Matt Boulette, and Sean Endsley, on assists by Sonnichsen and Matt Boulette.

In the third game, KPHA lost to the All-Stars by a score of 7-6. Sonnichsen had a hat trick in the game. Assists on the goals came from Boulette and Endsley.

Also scoring goals in the game were Tyler Cue, assisted by Zach Zulkanycz and Hali Carter, Boulette and Josh Kerkvliet, assisted by Zulkanycz.

Granger had 13 saves in the game.

Jake Iverson, Branden Fisher, Zack Weisz and Cunningham were credited with good defense in the games.

The Kenai Peninsula Basketball Officials Association will be holding a general membership meeting today at Skyview High School. This meeting is open to anyone that is interested in officiating basketball on the Kenai Peninsula. Members can be certified to work high school, junior high, Boys and Girls Club and adult league basketball.
