Take a Break to meet

Peninsula Take a Break, a Christian women’s group, will meet for a “wacky tacky” luncheon from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Solid Rock conference center at Mile 90.5 Sterling Highway.

Participants are invited to dress up for the tackiest outfit contest. Penny Gottsche will provide the music, a presentation from the Women’s Auxiliary of Central Peninsula General Hospital will be given and Linda Luberger will be the featured speaker. Health center plans one-day closure

The Kenai Public Health Center will be closed Wednesday in observance of Alaska Day.

It will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday. For more information, call 335-3400.

La Leche League to meet

The La Leche League will meet at 11 a.m. Friday at 141 Trumpeter Ave. For more information, call Olga at 260-6141.

Christmas bazaar set

The Kenai Senior Citizens Center will host its 27th annual Christmas boutique from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the center.

Community dance planned

The Kenai River Folk Dancers will host a smoke- and alcohol-free community contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Live music will be provided by the Contra BanD. Raymond Hanson will call the dances. Beginners should come early, since the easiest dances start at 7 p.m. Participants should bring clean, nonmarking shoes and potluck snacks to share. Partners are not required. Admission is $5. Children under 16 can get in for free if accompanied by an adult. For more information, call Theresa Holland at 260-4171.
