Parenting class for men set
Nakenu Family Center will hold a free parenting class for fathers from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Nov. 21 at 110 N. Willow St. in Kenai. The class is geared for fathers who have children ages infants to 12. Pat Truesdell will lead the class. For more information, call 283-6693 or 394-1179.
Baby topics to be discussed
La Leche League will meet at 11 a.m. Oct. 20 at 141 Trumpeter Ave. in Soldotna. Russian fun night scheduled
The Kenai River Rotary Club will host a "From Russia with Fun Night" at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Senior Citizens Center. The evening will include Russian food, music, entertainment, storytelling, Russian toasts, special guests, and a silent auction. The funds raised will benefit service projects for Alaska and Russia.

Adult hockey league begins

Domestic violence workshop
The LeeShore Center will hold a community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault Oct. 23 through 27 in its community meeting room.
The topics will be how the dynamics of a community's response to domestic violence and sexual assault impacts victims and community resources available to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Car care tips offered
Kenaitze Head Start will offer a free winter car care class at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Family House, 120 N. Willow Street in Kenai. Jeff Van Velzor, from NAPA, will teach the class. Door prizes will be given away. It is open to the public.

Pumpkin contest scheduled
The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center will host a free community Halloween pumpkin carving contest from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 28. One free pumpkin will be proved per family. Bake sale, stories and craft activities are some of the planned activities.

Children's craft fair planned
Soldotna Community Schools, in partnership with Skyview High School National Honor Society, will host a free make it and take it craft fair for kids in grades kindergarten through six from 1 to 3 p.m. Oct. 28 at Soldotna Middle School. Donations for materials will be accepted.
GED help available in Ninilchik
Terri Cowart, ABE instructor with Kenai Peninsula College, will be available to help community members interested in earning their GED or improving English and math skills from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ninilchik Traditional Council and from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Ninilchik library on the following dates: Nov. 8, Jan. 10, Feb. 8, March 7 and April 14.
