School funding workshop today

A public forum on learning how the state calculates funding for public education will be held at 7 tonight in the Soldotna High School library. It will be conducted by former Kenai Peninsula Borough School District finance director Dick Swarner and current finance officer Melody Douglas. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

KCHS hosts winter gear swap

Attention outdoor sport enthusiasts: The Kenai Central High School Ski Booster Club will hold its annual sport gear swap in the KCHS cafeteria Oct. 27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

People can check in the sports gear they want to sell Oct. 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Oct. 27 from 8 to 10 a.m. Equipment from any sport is welcome.

Week honors school lunches

This is National School Lunch Week. Schools around the Kenai Peninsula are honoring the district's Student Nutrition Services. This is a great time for students, parents and staff to thank the cooks who make hot meals and great goodies for the schoos each day.

KCHS announces Students of the Month

Kenai Central High School has announced its Students of the Month.

The Student of the Month luncheon will be Thursday in the auditorium commons. The students are Josh Bennett, Amy Rask, Lauren Brewer, Tiffany Simpson, Ryan Pierce, Maren Hendrich, Caitlin Nelson, Derek LaShot, Danielle Millette, Jessica Barton, Chantel Lillard, Kim Guffy, Derek George, Kenny Dormandy and Ruth McConnell.

Heidi Carlson is the Rotary Student of the Month; Scott Kornfield is the Chamber Student of the Month; and Shamra Bauder is the Elks Student of the Month.

Ashley Mishler is the Kard of the Deck, and Mr. Totten is the Super Staffer.
