Knowles gets high marks for education plans

Posted: Tuesday, October 17, 2006

For those of us raising young children, we hope and pray they will receive the best education, the best health care and have access to the services they need to grow up safe, healthy and successful.

I visited the issues section of Sarah Palin’s and Tony Knowles’ websites to learn of their plans and ideas on improving outcomes for our children. I first visited Sarah Palin’s website, a woman raising young children. It took me a long time to find the word child or children. There was no mention of improving our education or childcare system. There was no mention of improving healthcare coverage for Alaska’s children and working families. I switched over to Tony Knowles’ website and found action plans for strengthening our education system, implementing a much necessary voluntary pre-K program, improving our childcare system and details on expanding what was once a strong Denali KidCare program to provide health care coverage for families in need.

Our children deserve the best possible future we can give them. Please review these websites so you can make an informed choice at the polls.

I hope your decision will be based on experience and substance, not on generalities and sound bites. I have made up my mind. I’m voting for Tony Knowles.
