Nikiski splits on road trip
Nikiski topped Anchorage Christian Schools in five games on Friday before losing to Grace in three games on Saturday, both in Southcentral Conference play.
The scores against ACS were 25-22, 22-25, 21-25, 25-21 and 15-12.
"All the girls played really well," Nikiski coach Amber Oliva-Douglas said. "We used three different offensive lineups and they adjusted well to all three."
Against Grace, Nikiski lost 25-18, 25-19 and 25-9. In the third game, the Bulldogs were up 9-5 before Oliva-Douglas said they lost mental toughness.
"They played the first and second games very, very strong," said Oliva-Douglas of her team, which is now 2-10 overall and 1-7 in conference. "They played good defense and were doing a good job of placing their hits."
Nikiski will travel to meet Ninilchik on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
