Melinda Haring and Daniel Kimmage were married in a private sunset ceremony at Merry-Go-Round Rock in Sedona, Ariz., on Saturday, June 12, 2010. Karen Lynn officiated.
The couple also held a reception with a reprisal of vows on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at the Ukrainian Youth Center in Yonkers, New York. The groom's brother, Dr. Michael C. Kimmage, served as the officiant.
The bride is the daughter of Ruth Haring and David C. Haring, formerly of Kenai. She is a Program Officer at the National Democratic Institute, where she manages a democracy program on Azerbaijan. She graduated from Georgetown University with a master's in Government and a graduate certificate in Eurasian, Russian and East European Studies. Before graduate school, Ms. Haring was a freelance writer and English teacher in Kiev, Ukraine. She is a magna cum laude graduate of Grove City College.
The groom is the son of Ann Kimmage and Dennis Kimmage of Brunswick, Maine. He is an independent consultant and senior fellow at the Homeland Security Policy Institute. Mr. Kimmage is an expert on terrorist use of the media. He was an analyst at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty from 2003-2008. He is a graduate of Cornell University and the State University of New York at Binghamton.
The couple live in Washington, D.C. They plan a honeymoon food tour through China in the spring of 2011.
