Tim and Roberta O'Brien of Nikiski recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
Tim and Roberta were both born in the territory of Alaska and their parents were homesteaders. They have know each other all their lives.
They began daiting in their 20s and were married on Sept. 6, 1980 in Anchorage. They have made their home in Nikiski since 1978. Tim is retired from local 341 and owns a sawmill. He now builds with the lumber, and is constructing a lodge. Roberta worked miscellaneous jobs and kept busy raising the couple's three daughters, Tara, 31, Traci, 25, and Kerry, 23. Tim and Roberta have six grandchildren, Brendan, Justin, Dylan, Ashlyn, Shane and Regan. The couple writes, "Thirty years fly by fast. God has blessed us with children and grandchildren who make our lives very special -- and never a dull moment. We are thankful for our 30 years and hope to have many more."
