Native outreach fellowship to meet

The North Wind Native Fellowship, an inter-denominational Native outreach meets at 7 p.m. tonight at Peninsula Grace Brethren, 44175 Kali-fornsky Beach Road in Soldotna. Meetings are held every other Friday. Every fourth gathering is a Native potluck.

Anniversary celebration planned

The First Baptist Church of Port Nikiski will celebrate its 40th anniversary Sunday with activities at the church on Island Lake Road.

Coffee and doughnuts will be served at 9:45 a.m., followed by a celebration service at 10:15 a.m. A potluck dinner is scheduled for 12:15 p.m.

English classes offered

Classes on English as a second language will begin a 9 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Soldotna, 129 Little Ave.

Classes are free, but students will be required to pay for their books, which will be sold at cost.

Instructors for the classes are Tommye Jo Corr and Connie Goltz.

Clothing ministry open

The New 2 You clothing ministry of the First Baptist Church of Soldotna is open from 1 to 3 p.m. every first and third Saturday of the month.

Home for the holidays brunch slated

A "Home for the Holidays" brunch including speakers, vintage fashions and a holiday gifts show is slated for Nov. 12 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Solid Rock Conference Center, Mile 90.5 Sterling Highway, Soldotna.

Claudette Barber, owner of Claudette's, will present the fashions and gifts, and Donna Embree will speak on being happy to have a place to call home.

Bible study groups meeting

Precept Bible Study is studying Hebrews, Thursdays at 1 p.m. at the Soldotna Bible Chapel library.

Precept Bible Study also will study Hebrews on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Kasilof Community Church. For more information, call 283-9235.

Writers sought for faith anthology

Writers from Alaska are invited to share their own experiences of the power of prayer and faith in an anthology to be published in 2003.

The anthology, "A Matter Of Faith," is being compiled by Arrowhead Publishing to provide examples of the positive power of prayer. Writers are invited to submit essays of up to 750 words that share their own experiences of how their faith has helped them meet major challenges in the journey through life.

Anyone whose work is selected will share in the royalties from book sales.
