Book fair fundraiser continues

The Connections Home-school Program's Scholastic book fair is held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Friday at its office at 143 East Park Ave. (across from Soldotna Elementary School). It is open to the public. For more information, call 714-8880.

Youth Halloween party Saturday

The Kenai Eagles will host a costume party for children ages 12 and under from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the club.

Literacy program fundraiser set

The Kenai River Rotary Club of Soldotna will host "From China With Fun" from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center in Soldotna. The family-friendly evening will include dinner, Chinese auction, calligraphy display, door prizes and entertainment. Proceeds will go to literacy programs on the Kenai Peninsula.

Community dance set for fun

The Kenai River Folk dancers will host a community contra dance from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School. Admission is $5 with children under 16 admitted free with an adult. Potluck refreshments are served. Attendees are asked to wear clean, non-marking shoes.

Domestic violence workshop planned

The LeeShore Center will hold a community awareness workshop on domestic violence and sexual assault from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Oct. 26 at the center. Topics will include domestic violence, sexual assault, effects of domestic violence on children, the center's batterers' intervention program and volunteering with shelter clients.

It is open to the public. Attendees may participate in a portion or the entire workshop. Continuing education credit may be attained after completion of the workshop and 30 hours of volunteer work with the center.

Pastor appreciation brunch set to dish

The ABC Crisis Pregnancy Center will recognize local clergy with a homemade brunch and a time of fellowship at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the center. The center will give an update on its programs. Reservations are required. For more information, call 283-9062.

LeeShore board meeting planned

The LeeShore Center will hold a board meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center at 11471 Kenai Spur Highway. It is open to the public. For more information, call 283-9479.

Passport fair set

The Kenai Post office will hold a passport fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 3.

Passports cost $97 for adults and $82 for children ages 16 and younger. Passport photos cost $15 extra. Expedited service cost will be an additional $92.50.

Proof of citizenship and identity are required.

Women voters to gather

Central Peninsula League of Women Voters will hold a brown bag luncheon meeting at noon Nov. 9 at Christ Lutheran Church in Soldotna. The featured speaker will be Dani Kebschull with Ready Care Services of Soldotna. It is open to the public.

Internet workshop rescheduled

The Soldotna Community Schools and Officer Garcia, school resource officer of the Soldotna Police Department's free "Cybersmarts!" workshop has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 15 in the computer lab at Soldotna Middle School.
