Sharon was born Jan. 20, 1945 in Curtis, Mich., to Kenneth and Margaret McGahan. She was the eighth of 11 children. Sharon moved from Michigan with her parents and siblings to homestead on the North Road in 1955. She graduated from Kenai High School in 1963. Sharon married Paul Otis in 1963 and they were blessed with four children. She attended Kenai Peninsula Community College and graduated with a certificate in secretarial support in 1977. Sharon was a Cub Scout Den Leader and Little League coach. She was kept busy with her children's sports, clubs and activities, helping family unreservedly, working full time and enjoying time spent with friends. She worked as an office assistant for Wade Manufacturing then an office manager for Kimbrell Welding Services and Dukowitz Machine.

Her family writes: Sharon gave from her heart. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, treasured traveling around the U.S. with her mother, loved bird watching and gold panning. She was thrilled to be able to teach her nephews, nieces and grandchildren to paint, sew, draw, quilt, crochet and work with wood. She was our hero, mother, friend, sister, cousin and aunt. A few words that describe Sharon are; loving, caring, brave, tenacious, strong, knowledgeable, hopeful, compassionate, generous, gentle and faithful. She embodied and shared these qualities unconditionally. She is loved and will be greatly missed.

In addition, her family remembered Ms. Otis with the following sentiment, "A mom is a gift from God, she comforts with the arms of an angel, she loves with no limits and she counts her wealth in the happiness of her family. You are a true 'MOM.' For all the sacrifices you made, for all the time you gave, for all you have taught us, for everything you are, we love you Mom."
