Book sale planned
The Mountain View Elementary School will hold its Scholastic Book Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Friday in the school library.
A Halloween carnival is planned from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday during parent-teacher conferences.
The selection of items at the fair will include books for children and adults, computer software, games and puzzles in a wide price range.
The event is open to the public.
AARP to meet
The local AARP group will have lunch today at noon at the Kenai Senior Center, followed by a 1 p.m. meeting. Mike Navarre will speak on affordable prescription drugs. For more information, call 283-4165 or 262-5571.
Sen. Ward to address chamber
The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon at noon today at the Lighthouse Inn. Sen. Jerry Ward is the featured speaker. The event is open to the public.
Career seminar offered
Kenai Peninsula College offers a career exploration seminar today from noon to 1 p.m. in Room 124. The seminar will cover career investigation strategies, jobs of the future, resume writing, interviewing skills and internships. Registration is not required and the event is free to the public. Candidates invited to speak at forum
The Kenai Peninsula League of Women Voters will host a candidate forum at 7 tonight in the Kenai Peninsula College Commons. Candidates running for House seats in Districts 7, 8 and 9 and for the Senate seat in District E have been invited to participate. Free cookies and coffee will be served. Sled dog racing club to meet
The Peninsula Sled Dog Racing Association will meet at 7 tonight at Bridges. Anyone interested in being involved with the club is invited to attend. The club is expanding its trail system and is planning more skijoring and junior events. For more information, call 262-7293.
