East High won its first state championship since 1990, defeating Juneau-Douglas 33-15 Saturday in the big-schools title game at Anchorage Football Stadium.
The Crimson Bears, making their first state championship appearance, jumped out to a 15-0 lead.
However, the Thunderbirds scored 33 unanswered points to take control of the game. Casey Flair caught three touchdown passes for East. He finished with eight receptions for 102 yards. East outgained Juneau 403 yards to 226 yards.
