ANCHORAGE (AP) — A 12-year veteran of the city's police department was arrested Tuesday on four felony counts involving child pornography, becoming the second Anchorage police officer in the last four months to face such charges.

Officer Bryan Herrera was arrested on three counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography.

Herrera, 42, was being held on $100,000 bail at the Anchorage Jail, police spokesman Lt. Paul Honeman said.

Anchorage Police Chief Walt Monegan said the case involved images of child pornography found on a computer, but he would not elaborate. He also said police had not uncovered evidence that any child had been harmed by Herrera.

Police began investigating Herrera on Oct. 11 off a tip from a daycare provider, Monegan said.

Herrera, a married father of four, had been assigned to the warrants section as an adult prisoner transport officer. He has been placed on paid administrative leave, Monegan said.

An arraignment was scheduled later Tuesday.
