Chamber Luncheon

The Kenai and Soldotna chambers of commerce will hold a joint luncheon today from noon to 1 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center to discuss State Bonding Prop A, Veterans Residential Mortgage Bonds; State Bonding Prop B, General Obligation Facility Bonds; and Ballot Measure Number 1, increasing the number of legislators.

KPC Financial Aid Night slated

Kenai Peninsula College's financial aid office and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District counselors will co-host the fourth annual Financial Aid Night at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Soldotna Sports Center.

The event is geared toward high school juniors and seniors and their parents, however all high school students and parents may attend.

Topics covered will include overview of federal and state financial aid programs, local scholarship offerings, student timelines and funding post-secondary education. For more information, call 262-0331.

Volunteers sought

The Boys and Girls Clubs in Kenai and Soldotna are looking for community members interested in sharing a craft or hobby with club members. Call 283-2682 or 398-9669.

Arts and craft donations are also needed.

After-school party clubs slated

After-school party clubs will be held in area elementary schools for one hour, once a month. Games, stories, songs, snacks and prizes are planned.

Nikiski pool hours announced

The Nikiski pools winter hours will be Tuesdays through Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and to 8 p,m,; Fridays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. with the waterslide all day Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. with the waterslide open both days. Immunizations available

The Kenai Public Health Center has appointments available for immunizations in Kenai and on Thursday's in Soldotna. To schedule an appointment or for questions, call 335-3400.

Dog costume contest on deck

The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area's fourth annual Strut Your Mutt Howl'oween Dog Costume Contest is scheduled for Friday, 6:30 p.m. at the Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Dogs must be people and dog friendly and on a leash at all times. Multiple prize categories, door prizes and refreshments provided. For more information contact Tammy at 776-8800.

Teen costume contest on tap

Swap some gear

The annual Kenai Sport Swap is coming Saturday, in the KCHS cafeteria. Drop off your used sports equipment Friday, from 4 - 7:30 p.m., or Saturday, from 9 - 10 a.m. Doors open at 10 a.m. for purchase of gear. For more information call 398-8613.

College fair is a first

The Kenai Peninsula School District hosts its first annual Peninsula College Fair Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kenai Central High School auditorium commons. More than 40 colleges are expected to participate. High school students can contact their counselors for more information.

Candle workshop planned

Bright Ideas- The Art and Science of Candle Making, workshop invites you to learn candle making. The workshop will consist of making five candles to take home, a complete information packet including a step-by-step guide, tips and tricks, as well as a supply resources guide. Workshop attendees will also learn about the safety, technology and science behind candles. All proceeds will go to support CLCA's educational programs. Space is limited, so register soon.
