FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A new overpass at Badger Road on the Richardson Highway was opened this weekend to travelers.
The project was completed months ahead of schedule.
Project engineer Bruce Herning said the speedy progress was made because instead of working around the traffic, the traffic was moved away from the project, allowing it to be completed much faster.
However, the cost for the overpass was higher than expected, about $1 million more than the $11.5 million budgeted for the project.
