Students appreciate support for their school newspaper

Posted: Monday, October 20, 2003

We are the reporters from The Caribou Gazette. It is an all-school newspaper published by students in Kalifornsky Beach Elementary School.

We are getting ready to celebrate our first year of publishing. We have gone from 50 readers to 643. Our first edition was one page and now we have as many as five pages.

We would like to thank the people who have helped us during our first year of publication.

Thank you to Unocal Oil and Gas for donating money for our newspaper. We would not be able to do this without the money.

Thanks also to Dan's TV and Appliance in Kenai for the really good prices on tape recorders, tapes and batteries.

Thank you to Mrs. Reynolds for letting us have it at school; to the teachers who read it in class and the kids who submit stories. Also, we would like to thank Kim Senn and Nan Misner for being our parent helpers.

Thank you to all the reporters at the Clarion who talked to us and let us come to the newsroom; to Lori Evans, the editor, because even though she doesn't have any kids in our school, she comes to our paper twice a month in the middle of her day to teach us about writing in a fun way and to help make the paper real.

Making the paper is fun and thank you to everyone who donated time and money so we can do this.

Zack Misner, Kayla Schultz, Chris Coreson, Alea Perkovich, Mackenzie Senn, Olivia Tice, Madelynn Tice and Riley Ellison
