Reeder to speak at Soldotna chamber

Bear behavior discussion planned
The Kenai Peninsula Outdoors Club will host a discussion titled "Bear Behavior and Human Encounters" at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ruben's in the Kings Inn in Kenai. Larry Lewis of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will present a video and lead the discussion.

Community pumpkin contest slated
Peninsula Center Mall will sponsor a community pumpkin carving-decorating contest. There will be a $50 prize for first place overall and red, white and blue ribbons for the winners.
The four age categories are preschool through first grade, second through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade and ninth through 12 grade.
Deadline for pumpkin entries is Friday by 8 p.m. Entry forms can be obtained from any mall merchant. Judging will take place beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday. Mall shoppers will do the judging. For more information, call 262-2448.
United Way fund-raiser auction planned
Tesoro Alaska will sponsor a fund-raiser from 7 to 11 p.m. Friday at the Kenai Elks Lodge across from the post office on Barnacle Drive. There will be a Chinese, outcry and silent auctions. All proceeds go to the Kenai Peninsula United Way.
Swim workout offered
The pool at Skyview High School will offer adult fitness swimming workouts Wednesday nights beginning in November. For more information, call Cathy at 262-3905.
Cheerleaders hold food drive
The Skyview and Soldotna high school cheerleaders are collecting canned and dried goods for the Food Bank of Alaska.
