This was a busy story week in Miss Fischer's class. The class read and acted out the stories of "The Three Bears," "The Three Little Pigs," "Three Billy Goats Gruff" and the "Three Little Kittens." Students made comparisons between the stories by discussing characters, settings and the plots.

This week, Ms. Ralston's first-graders discovered how submarines and underwater vessels are able to dive deep in the sea and rise to the surface of the sea again through the water unit. The students made deep-water divers out of pen tops, plastic bottles, modeling clay and water. In math, the students learned two new games called "Uncover 12" and "The Bee Game." The learning goals of these games are one to one correspondence, patterns and strategic thinking. The students are learning new sound combinations to apply to reading, spelling and writing.
