Church photos wanted

Is something special happening at your church? A fundraiser? Bible school? Social? Study groups? The Clarion is encouraging central Kenai Peninsula area churches to send us a photo of your event to add to our Religion page.

A brief explanation of the photo, event and church, plus a contact name, address and phone number must be included.

Photos either can be color or black and white and may be e-mailed to, dropped off at our Kenai office at 150 Trading Bay or mailed to the Clarion at P.O. Box 3009, Kenai, 99611. Photos with an address written on the back will be returned.

Addictions group meets

Reformers Unanimous, a Christ-centered addictions program, meets at 7 p.m. Fridays at Immanuel Baptist Church. For more information, call 283-9361.

Clothes closet opens

First Baptist Church in Soldotna offers free clothing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays in the garage at 119 Little St., off Binkley.

Cranston to receive racial, social justice award

Soldotna United Methodist Church News as part of the worship celebration for United Nations Day at 10 a.m. Sunday, will present Nancy Cranston with a Racial, Social Justice Award. Pat Wise, president of the Alaska Missionary Conference United Methodist Women will present the award. Nancy and her late husband, Chuck began hosting international students in 1963. AFS is one of the world’s largest community-based volunteer organizations dedicated to building a more just and peaceful world through international student exchange.

Bonnie Nichols will provided music.

Sunday healing classes begin

The Abundant Life Assembly of God hosts a series of healing classes at 6 p.m. Sundays at the church at Mile 81.5 of the Sterling Highway in Sterling. Classes will include: liberty from substance abuse Sunday; and freedom from fear and negative emotions Oct. 29. For more information, call 262-7266.

Kids’ night out planned

The Lighthouse Community Church hosts Kids’ Night Out from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Sundays. Van rides will be available. Children in grades kindergarten through six are eligible to attend. For more information, call 776-8234 or 252-4454.

Woman’s Bible class planned

Women’s Kenai Aglow- worship, fellowship and bible study will meet at 7 p.m. Mondays (except on holidays) at The Salvation Army at 210 N. Forest Dr. Kenai.

Clothes available

Clothes Quarters is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays at Our Lady of the Angels Church, 225 S. Spruce St. in Kenai.

Harvest carnival planned

The Kenai New Life Assembly of God Church will host a harvest carnival from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. Games, candy, food, cakewalks and jumping balloon castle are some of the planned events. Tickets are .25 cents each and are available at the door For more information, call 283-7752.
