Leeshore holds awareness workshop

The LeeShore Center will hold its bi-annual Community Awareness Workshop on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Oct. 25 - 29 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at The LeeShore Center. Topics to be covered include domestic violence, sexual assault, the effects of domestic violence on children, the agency's Batterer's Intervention Program and volunteering with shelter clients. The public is invited and may attend a portion or the entire workshop. Continuing education credit may be attained after completion of the workshop and 30 hours of volunteer work with The LeeShore Center. Call 283-9479 for information.

The annual Kenai Sport Swap is coming Oct. 23, in the KCHS cafeteria. Drop off your used sports equipment Oct. 22, from 4 - 7:30 p.m., or Oct. 23, from 9 - 10 a.m. Doors open at 10 a.m. for purchase of gear. For more information call 398-8613.

College fair is a first

The Kenai Peninsula School District hosts its first annual Peninsula College Fair Oct. 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kenai Central High School auditorium commons. More than 40 colleges are expected to participate. High school students can contact their counselors for more information.

Library hosts pumpkin contest

Friends of the Joyce K. Carver Memorial Library in Soldotna are sponsoring the library's Annual Pumpkin Carving/Painting Contest, open to elementary aged children, teens and families. Entries must represent a fictional book character. One prize will be awarded in each category, plus one grand prize awarded for "Best in Contest." The library will accept painted pumpkins through Oct. 27, and carved pumpkins Oct. 18-27. Awards will be presented Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. Contact Terri Burdick at 262-4227.
