The LeeShore Center will hold its bi-annual Community Awareness Workshop on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Oct. 25 - 29 from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at The LeeShore Center. Topics to be covered include domestic violence, sexual assault, the effects of domestic violence on children, the agency's Batterer's Intervention Program and volunteering with shelter clients. The public is invited and may attend a portion or the entire workshop. Friends of the Joyce K. Carver Memorial Library in Soldotna are sponsoring the library's Annual Pumpkin Carving/Painting Contest, open to elementary aged children, teens and families. Entries must represent a fictional book character. One prize will be awarded in each category, plus one grand prize awarded for "Best in Contest." The library will accept painted pumpkins through Oct. 27, and carved pumpkins Oct. 18-27. Awards will be presented Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. Contact Terri Burdick at 262-4227.
