Kenai River

-- Silver fishing has slowed, but persistent anglers continue to pick up a few fish, according to Dawn Nushart from Trustworthy Hardware. Early morning and late evening offers the best fishing.

Local Lakes

-- More anglers are turning to the lakes now that river fishing has slowed, says Nushart. Ice fishing is not far away.

Anchor River

-- Steelhead fishing has been fair and Dolly Varden fishing has been good, according to Carol Kerkvliet, Fish and Game assistant area management biologist in Homer. Expect crowds. Water conditions are good, but can change quickly with rain.


-- Halibut are still being caught out of Homer, says Kerkvliet. Winter king salmon fishing has been fair to good in Kachemak Bay.
