The PTO's second annual "Spooky Stories" contest is under way through Friday. The contest is open to students in grades one through six. There will be two prizes ($15 and $10 gift certificates) awarded at each grade level. The awards will be announced Oct. 27.

The first quarter Lynx Tracks activity for students in good standing will be a roller skating session at Great Skate in Soldotna. The trips are scheduled for today and Thursday. The school would like to thank Guy Hayes for accommodating us again this year.

This Friday is a shortened day throughout the district. School will be dismissed at 2:10 p.m. that afternoon for Tustumena students.

Central Emergency Services personnel will be at Tustumena on Tuesday and Oct. 29 to conduct their annual fire prevention sessions. Programs will be conducted in the classrooms for grades four through six Tuesday afternoon, and a puppet show is scheduled the following morning for students in kindergarten through third grade. Gary Hale and his staff are much appreciated for their continued educational efforts with the children in this community.

Parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for Oct. 30 and 31. An appointment letter was sent home with each student. Parents are reminded that the book fair will be open for business in the library before or after conference times.
