Students travel abroad

Kenai residents Julianne Pettey and Jason Winans will spend the fall semester traveling to China, Australia and New Zealand, as part of Harding Universitys International program.

Pettey and Winans are a sophomores.

Lockebys have a daughter

Jennifer and Nick Lockeby of Kenai announce the birth of their daughter, Ella Lenore, at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at Womans Way Midwifery in Soldotna. She weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces.

Her grandparents are Joy and Cliff Goodlett and Dee Dee and Bob Lockeby.

Carew joins Navy

Kenai resident U.S. Navy Seaman 1st class Stephanie Carew graduated Navy basic training at the Naval Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill. While there she was a section leader.

Carew attends aviation electronics school at Pensacola, Fla.

She is the daughter of Robert Carew of Kenai and Theresa Bowden of Nikiski.

Carew is a 2004 graduate of Kenai Central High School.
