Chamber goals are topic in Kenai

The Kenai Chamber of Commerce luncheon is at noon today at Paradisos. Chamber President Cherie L. Brewer will lead a round-table discussion outlining the chamber's future goals and will introduce the candidates for chamber board of director elections.

Musical entertainment will be provide by Grandma's Hope Notes. The luncheon is $10.50 inclusive and is open to the public.

SeaLife Center to show documentary

"Rockwell Kent," a documentary film by Frederick Lewis, will be shown at the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward today from 1 until 3 p.m. Kent was a writer, painter and political activist who spent several months on Fox Island with his 9-year-old son in 1918 and 1919. He was the first American artist known to paint what is now Kenai Fjords National Park. For more information, call the center at (907) 224-6300.

Builders Association to hold meeting

The Kenai Peninsula Builders Association will hold its annual meeting and election of officers at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Mykel's Restaurant in Soldotna. The guest speaker will be Kristie Leaf, insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Company. All members are encouraged to attend. For more information, call 283-8071.

Ski team to hold fund-raiser

The Kenai Central High School ski team will hold a fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the school cafeteria. The Kenai Sports Swap is a place to sell and buy sports gear.

Equipment and donations can be checked in at the cafeteria between 5 and 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday. For more information, contact Nelson Amen at 283-6085.

Challenger center recruiting board members

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska is recruiting people to serve on its board of directors. There are seats open for one-, two- and three-year terms. The opportunity closes Oct. 31.

Winter kick-off planned for Tsalteshi

The Tsalteshi Trails Association and Soldotna Community Schools will be hold their annual winter kick-off and annual meeting Nov. 1 at Skyview High School. There will be an orienteering event at 4:15 p.m., followed by a potluck dinner and the annual meeting and election of board members and officers at 6 p.m. Bring skis or snowshoes, and dress for the weather. This will be a great way to meet community trail users, as well as to get involved in the Tsalteshi Trails Association. For further information, call Pete at 262-4073 or Tom at 262-3189.

Hospice to offer remembrance

A Celebration of Remembrance, a community wide event, will be offered by Hospice of the Central Peninsula at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Christ Lutheran Church on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna. This is a nondenominational spiritual event. All persons are welcome to join in remembering loved ones and to participate in this memorial activity.
