Clay show open for entry
The Kenai Peninsula Potters Guild is seeking entries for its Clay Art Show, to open Nov. 2 at the Kenai Fine Arts Center, 816 Cook Ave. It is an open show for Southcentral Alaska potters to exhibit their work. Potters may enter up to three pieces for $10.
Works must be original and completed within the past two years. The entry day is Saturday at the Kenai Fine Arts Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Artists are responsible for shipping and insurance charges. Poetry contests open for entry
The Talent Literary Guild is sponsoring an amateur poetry contest on any subject and the New Jersey Rainbow Poets are offering a religious poetry contest. Both are free to everyone. Each contest offers 50 prizes, with almost $5,000 in total cash and prizes awarded.
The deadline for entering the religious poetry contest is Wednesday and the deadline for entering the Talent Literary Guild's contest is Oct. 31. Artists in Schools solicits interest
The Artists in Schools program is accepting applications for professional performing artists to be an artist in residence for the program. The program is accepting applications from performing artists including actors, puppeteers, singers, dancers, mimes, musicians and circus artists, as well as Alaska Native drummers, dancers and storytellers.

Artists wanted for shows
Ptarmigan Arts is soliciting artists for shows in the Back Room Gallery in Homer for 2004 and 2005. Interested artists should submit a proposal including a resume and references, a statement of your intent for the show including a theme or name and your first three choices for a show date. Artists should include a minimum of 10 slides or photographs of at least five pieces representative of your work. The slides must be clearly labeled with your name, address, phone number and orientation. A written inventory of the slides or photos including medium, size and when the pieces were made also is needed.
Most shows will be approximately one month long and will usually open on the first Friday of each month and end on the Wednesday prior to the first Friday of the next month. All months in 2004 and 2005 are available for shows. Artists should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for return of slides and resumes.
The submission deadline for proposals is 6 p.m. Dec. 1. Send proposals to Ptarmigan Arts, P.O. Box 608, Homer, AK 99603. The gallery retains 35 percent of all sales.

Fund-raiser raffle tickets on sale
The Pratt Museum in Homer is holding its second cash jackpot raffle which involves 15 cash prizes including a $10,000 prize for the last ticket drawn, a $1,000 prize for the second to last ticket drawn, $500 prizes for the 100th, 200th and 300th tickets drawn and $250 prizes for the first, 25th, 50th, 125th, 175th, 225th, 250th and 275th tickets drawn. Tickets are $100 and 350 will be sold. The drawing will be held at a dessert potluck at the museum at 7 p.m. Dec. 5. Winners need not be present. Proceeds go to support the museum. Tickets can be purchased at the museum store of by contacting any Pratt board member.
