Longtime Kenai resident Vivian L. McGrady died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at her home after a long illness. She was 66.
Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Kenai. Pastor Dean Nichols will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the Doyle Cemetery.
Mrs. McGrady was born Nov. 18, 1933, in Slaton, Texas, to Lee and Beatrice Stone. She was educated through high school in Carlsbad, N.M. In 1953, she married Allen Tru McGrady in Carlsbad. The couple moved to Alaska in 1957, making their home in Kenai. She was a homemaker, while her husband worked. She retired with her husband in 1988.
Mrs. McGrady was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kenai. She enjoyed cross-stitching, traveling with her husband in their motor home, spending time in her yard and with her children, grandchildren
The family wrote, "After retirement, Vivian and Tru enjoyed years of boating in Homer and later spent time together in their motor home exploring new places. Tru and Vivian were dedicated in marriage for 46 years. We will miss you both every day; our hearts are heavy with sadness."
Mrs. McGrady was preceded in death by her husband and her grandson Troi Burnett.
She is survived by her daughter Pam Burnett, of Kenai; daughter and son-in-law Ginger and Rick Self, of Sterling; son David McGrady, of Sterling; grandchildren, Sarah and Dwayne Self, Travis and Pepper Burnett, Trent Burnett and Michelle Davis, Corey, Kelly, Kaeli and Kelsey Self, and Ryan, Dawn, Kevin and Darin McGrady; great-grandchildren, Paytience and Taylor Burnett and Jamie Self; brother and sister-in-law Allen and Sue Stone, of New Mexico; brother- and sister-in-law Harold and Beanie McGrady, of Kenai, and sister- and brother-in-law Lois and Roger Rustad, of Arizona.
Memorial donations may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
