In recent years, the problem of crowding on the Kenai River has been of major concern for both guides and nonguides. Now, the Kenai River Special Management Area Advisory Board will discuss whether restrictions on the number of fishing guides allowed on the river should be addressed.
Jim Stratton, director of the Alaska Division of Parks and Outdoor Recreation, will speak to the board regarding the possibility of examining a moratorium on new sportfishing guide permits on the Kenai.
The meeting will be at 7 tonight at the Kenai River Center and is open to the public.
