Rain causes floods around peninsula

Posted: Thursday, October 24, 2002

The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the upper Kenai River, including the Cooper Landing area, through 10 a.m. Saturday.

Because of recent heavy rainfall, waterways in the Seward and Anchor Point areas already are beyond flood stage, and a bridge in Kachemak Selo also is reportedly out.

Because of these rains, as well as more in the forecast through Saturday, individuals living in or owning property along the affected streams and rivers, including the Kenai River, south of Cooper Landing, are advised to take necessary precautions.
