Chamber to hear from Boys and Girls Club

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce meets at noon today at the North Kenai Baptist church. The speaker is Tine Hereford, with the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula.

Blood bank plans drive

The Blood Bank of Alaska will hold a community blood drive from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Safeway in Soldotna in the employee break room. All blood types are needed. For more information, call 260-5672.

Sports swap set for this weekend

The Kenai Sports Swap, the place to sell and buy sports gear, will be Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kenai Central High School cafeteria. Equipment and donations can be checked in at the cafeteria between 5 and 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday.

The sale is a fund-raiser for the KCHS ski team. For more information, call Nelson Amen at 283-6085.

Tustumena plans annual carnival

The Tustumena Elementary School Halloween Carnival will be Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. Plans include games for big and little ghosts, cake and cupcake walks, prize raffles, a photo booth, balloons, a food booth and a pie-eating contest. For more information, call 252-1120 or 262-4844.

Senior center prepares for bazaar

The Nikiski Senior Citizens Center's annual fall bazaar and bake sale will offer a variety of Christmas gift ideas. Redoubt Homemakers and Avon will be on hand, as well as people offering ceramics, glassware, jewelry and homemade items. Fresh baked goods and nachos, hot dogs, hamburgers, chili and Fritos pies will be offered. The bazaar will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 31, Nov. 1 and 2.

Church to hold carnival

The Kenai New Life Assembly of God will hold its Harvest Carnival from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 31 at the church, 209 Princess St., across from the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. The event will offer safe fun, food and games for children ages three through 11. Costumes are encouraged. For more information, call 283-7752.

Winter kick-off planned for Tsalteshi

The Tsalteshi Trails Association and Soldotna Community Schools will hold their annual winter kick-off and annual meeting Nov. 1 at Skyview High School. There will be an orienteering event at 4:15 p.m., followed by a potluck dinner and the annual meeting and election of board members and officers at 6 p.m.

Bring skis or snowshoes, dress for the weather and plan to meet community trail users, as well as to get involved in the Tsalteshi Trails Association.

Hospice to offer remembrance

A Celebration of Remembrance, a communitywide event, will be offered by Hospice of the Central Peninsula at 2 p.m. Nov. 3 at Christ Lutheran Church on the Kenai Spur Highway in Soldotna.

This is a nondenominational spiritual event. The public is welcome to join in remembering loved ones and to participate in this memorial activity. For more information, contact hospice at 262-0453.
