Margaret 'Maggie' K. Morgan

Longtime Cooper Landing resident Margaret "Maggie" K. Morgan died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Mary Conrad Center in Anchorage. She was 89.

A service followed by a reception will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Cooper Landing Community Hall.

Mrs. Morgan was born Jan. 28, 1915, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Abner and Mary Kuhn.

She moved to Cooper Landing in 1948. Although she lived in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Juneau, Cooper Landing was always home, her family said.

Mrs. Morgan was an expert marksman, skilled seamstress, master of all types of needle work, a painter, a green-thumb gardener and community librarian. She loved fishing, hiking, camping and anything outdoors.

"Maggie was bigger than life and shared her love and many talents with community and friends. She will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched," her family said.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne C. Morgan.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, John R. and Frances Kuhn; and nieces and nephews, Heidi Thrasher, Robert Stoltenberg, Judy Ritenburgh, Joyce Andersen, Gary Leatherman, Charles Leatherman, David Morgan and Linda Whetstone.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Cooper Landing Library, P.O. Box 517, Cooper Landing, AK 99572.

Arrangements were made by Witzleben Family Funeral Home in Anchorage.
