Daniel Larry Miller
Soldotna resident Daniel Larry Miller died Oct. 21, 2006, at his home with his family by his side.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at Soldotna Church of the Nazarene at 229 E. Beluga Ave. Soldotna. He was 51.
He was born July 20, 1955, to Wilburn and Francis Miller in Fresno, Calif. When he was 11 years old he moved to Scio, Ore., where he graduated from high school. He moved to Sitka in 1991, where he was a commercial fisherman. Six years ago he moved to Soldotna, where he lived until his death. From 2001 to 2002 he worked for Peak Oilfield Services. He also worked for Steam on Wheels for two years. He then became a truck driver delivery and warehouseman for The Salvation Army until the present.
“Dan loved life, family, his friends, NASCAR and collecting cars and trucks. He will be greatly missed. Dan’s favorite saying was ‘Don’t sweat the small things and everything is small,’” his family said.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Miller of Soldotna; daughters, Debra Rusler of Soldotna, Nona Barnett of Falon, Nev., Frances Thieschafer of Spokane, Wash., and Gabi Romine of Sitka; parents, Frances and Wilburn Miller of Albany, Ore.; stepdaughters, Kristen Phelps of Kenai and Tanya Reed of Soldotna; stepson, Danny Autrey Jr.; sister, Kaye Horner of Tangent, Ore.; brothers, Dale Miller of Dutch Harbor, Roger and Steve Miller of Albany, Ore.; sons- in-law, Josh Phelps, Steven Reed, Alan Barnett, Daniel Romine and Paul Thieschafer; 14 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent in his name to 45060 Knight Drive, Soldotna, AK 99669.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
