Picture Lady Stacy Johnson captures memories at her home studio with daughter Ashlynn Olson and grandson Carter.

For the last 17 years Stacy Johnson has been the lady behind the camera that has made those special moments in our lives look as good as we feel about them. A professional photographer with a talent for unique posses and warm lighting Johnson’s images say more than the traditional year book or class photo. Known as the Picture Lady, Stacy is now working her magic from her home in Soldotna, “The little kids would come up to me in the store and say ‘Hey you’re the Picture Lady’ and it was easier to just say yes to them and it just kind of stuck as the kids grew up, so now I enjoy it and am having fun being creative from my home which I now call Picture Lady Photography,” Johnson told the Dispatch. Johnson said she decided to start her home studio because she didn’t want to give up her passion for taking pictures but wanted the freedom of having her own business and being able to spend more time at home with her husband and family.

Hanging in her home studio is an elegant portrait of a mother heavy with child yet radiantly beautiful. “I wanted my daughter to feel beautiful in her pregnancy and have a memory of that natural beauty that appears when you’re pregnant, so we created an elegant look in the portrait,” explained Stacy as she worked to capture another beautiful moment with her now 4-month-old grandson Carter. Johnson also takes appointments for location shoots for weddings and special events, “I’m able to do all the basic needs for photography, events, or special locations by private appointment. All people have to do is call me, and we’ll work out the details of what I’m able to do for you. Working from my home allows me to be affordable for special shoots as well as senior or family photos because I keep my overhead way down. We may not offer all the fancy folders but we do all the basics very nicely and creatively,” said Stacy.

The Picture Lady offers special yearbook photo session prices and will even split the session and deliver the photos of your choice to your school by the yearbook deadline at no additional charge. Photos are printed at a professional lab and not on a home printer, retouching is included and other edits and effects such as B&W or Color Splash can be arranged for fun results. A CD of your session is also available. “I really enjoy the satisfaction that comes from creating a unique photograph, my favorite thing is taking someone who isn’t real happy with their looks or perhaps feels that they are not very beautiful and produce for them a photo that shows them they can be pretty or handsome and fun and take a nice photo that captures their personality and a memory for a lifetime, and the lifetimes of those who remember us once our life is over,” added Johnson. The Picture Lady is located just a block away from SoHi at 335 West Rockwell in Soldotna and appointments may be made by calling 398-3368.
