Nature Spooktacular haunts Portage Saturday

The fourth annual Nature Spooktacular, hosted by the staff of the Begich Boggs Visitor Center, will haunt Portage Valley Saturday from 1 to 6 p.m.

The event, free of charge and open to children of all ages, will provide opportunities to get up close to creepy crawlies, hairy scaries and things that go bump in the night. Participants can get face to face with an owl, get the lowdown on decomposition or just go batty.

The program will include a live northern hawk owl presentation by the Bird Treatment and Learning Center at 4 p.m.

For more information, contact the Chugach National Forest Glacier Ranger District headquarters at 783-3242.
