Green to return to ballclub

Brian Green has agreed to return as head coach for the 2002 season. Green recently accepted a job as an assistant coach at the University of San Diego and has been hard at work this fall recruiting the next Oilers team. Names of both new and returning players will be announced in the future.

Preparations for the 2002 Alaska Baseball League season are well under way. Representatives of the leagues six teams met recently in Kenai to discuss league business. Each team will again have 35 league games and approximately eight games against visiting teams from Outside. Scheduling should be announced next month.

Fall work on Coral Seymour Memorial Park has been concluded due to the weather. The new field surface is coming in nice and the new fencing project is going well. Several other large projects are on the list to try and get done in time for the upcoming season. Kudos go out to Karl Ferlin, the Oilers maintenance manager, and Foster Construction and Moores Landscaping.
