Ninilchik resident Pat M. Kennedy died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004. She was 77.
Burial was Friday, Oct. 8, at the American Legion Cemetery in Ninilchik. A graveside service was led by pastor Julie Wasser.
Mrs. Kennedy was born March 4, 1927, in Healdton, Okla., to Ed and Rosie Moore. She married Martin Seth Kennedy of Fox, Okla., who died in 1959.
She moved to Ninilchik in 2000 to live with her son, Lynn, and daughter-in-law, Kathryn.
"Here, she renewed her love of painting and became locally renowned as 'Grandma Pat,' both for her paintings and her quick adoption of the young and lonely. Her passing was uniquely joyful as she celebrated her time to go to heaven with Jesus, declaring with emphases that 'God is love,' surrounded by her immediate family. And after many hours of sharing she went peacefully to sleep in her bed at home," her family said.
Mrs. Kennedy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Marshal Moore.
She is survived by a brother, Jim (Moe) Moore and Rita Davila of Wasilla; brother, Larry Moore of Oklahoma; daughter, Kay Jackson and husband, Tarry, of Houston; son, Lynn Kennedy and wife, Kathryn, of Ninilchik; son, Richard Kennedy and wife, Griffin, of Houston; son, Don Kennedy of Fairbanks; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
