Alaska Native Mary H. Orloff died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010, at Providence Seward Mountain Haven in Seward. She was 72.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 27, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai. Viewing will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Holy Assumption Russian Orthodox Cemetery. Father Thomas Andrew will officiate.
Mrs. Orloff was born Sept. 7, 1938, in Port Moller, Alaska. She also lived in Herendeen Bay, Nelson Lagoon and Seward. She had fished with her husband and also was a homemaker.
Mrs. Orloff was Russian Orthodox. She loved to cook, knit and was a great accordion player with a fine strong voice.
"Her door was always open. She was a very kind and generous person who was always there whenever you needed her," her family said.
Mrs. Orloff was preceded in death by her father, Fred Nelson; mother, Polly Nelson; brothers Pete, Fredrick and Allen; and a sister, Mildred Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, Carpa Orloff, Sr.; children and their spouses, Janet and Robert Toth, Diane J. and Lonnie Andersen, Carpa Orloff Jr., Janice Koval, and C.J. and Randy; siblings, John and Jack Nelson, Jenny Johnson, Sharon and Shirley Brandell, JoAnn Wilson and Dailey Schack; grandchildren, Fredrick and Nicole Toth and Willie and Daniel.
Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
