Honor choir performs

The 2010 Kenai Peninsula Borough School District High School Honor Choir performs Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at 6 p.m. at Soldotna High School. Works by composers including Bottesini, Matusovsky, Mozart and Andrew Lloyd Webber will be performed, some with brass accompaniment. Tickets are $4.

Snow sports time

TRAILS is gearing up for skiing and snowboarding again with Challenge Alaska and Alyeska Ski School. The first trip will be the weekend of Dec. 10 -- 12, 2010. Child safety seat inspections available

Is your child in the right car safety seats? Stop in at your local fire departments and have a child passenger safety technician check your child's seat. Nov. 8, at the Kenai Fire Department, 1 -- 3 p.m.; Nov. 15, at the Nikiski Fire Department Station #1, 1 -- 3 p.m.; and Nov. 17, at the CES/Soldotna Fire Station, 11 a.m. -- 3 p.m.

CIRCAC plans 20th anniversary logo competition

To commemorate 20 years of service, the Cook Inlet Regional Citizens Advisory Council is hosting a 20th anniversary logo design competition thorough Nov. 8. There will be a $250 cash award for the selected logo design. The design will be unveiled at the Council's 20th anniversary reception on Dec. 2.

The Council was created by the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 to represent the citizens of Cook Inlet in promoting environmentally safe marine transportation and oil facility operations.

1970s KCHS grads, get in touch

Organizers are planning a combined class reunion for all Kenai Central High School classes from 1970 to 1979. The reunion is scheduled for July 23, 2011. Organizers are currently attempting to verify email addresses or any other contact information. Volunteers sought

The Boys and Girls Clubs in Kenai and Soldotna are looking for community members interested in sharing a craft or hobby with club members. Call 283-2682 or 398-9669.

Library hosts pumpkin contest

Friends of the Joyce K. Carver Memorial Library in Soldotna are sponsoring the library's Annual Pumpkin Carving/Painting Contest, open to elementary aged children, teens and families. Entries must represent a fictional book character. One prize will be awarded in each category, plus one grand prize awarded for "Best in Contest." The library will accept painted pumpkins through Oct. 27, and carved pumpkins Oct. 18-27. Awards will be presented Oct. 29, at 4 p.m. Contact Terri Burdick at 262-4227.

Fish and Game Advisory group meets

The Kenai Soldotna Fish and Game Advisory Committee will have a meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 6:30 p.m., to discuss potential Board of Game proposals. For more information, call Michael Crawford at 252-2919.
